The Godless state vs Christ’s church

August 10th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

It is time once again to play, Does this mixture of headlines make any sense? As you read the following news items, remember that the embracing of sin (Jeremiah 50:14) coupled with the systematic removal of God (Jeremiah 50:29) will lead to catastrophic judgment upon the Western world (Jeremiah 50:28), particularly the United States (read Isaiah 18, Jeremiah 50-51, & Revelation 18 for an in-depth picture).

Group one–pro sin:

Group two–anti-God:

Group three–just to think about:

Family vs family: a sign of things to come

August 8th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

At the midpoint of the Tribulation the Antichrist will claim to be God (2 Thessalonians 2:4; Daniel 11:36; Revelation 13:5-6), and with the help of the False Prophet unsaved people will believe him (Revelation 13:12-17). The Antichrist will then make it his mission to kill the Jews and Christians who are on earth during that time (Daniel 7:21, 25; Revelation 13:7, 12;13, 20:4; Matthew 24:9; Mark 13:9, 12-13; Luke 21:12-17; John 16:2).

Amazingly, people will turn in their own family members for being Christians and hand them over to be killed (Mark 13:9-13). With that in mind I am going to occasionally post some headlines showing that the natural love between family members is eroding quickly in our culture. It will be no surprise that millions of believers are given over to the executioner by “loved” ones.

Christian persecution in the news

July 15th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

The persecution of Christians and Jews will continue to increase (Revelation 12:13, 13:7; Matthew 24:9; Mark 13:9), culminating in the beheading of many who are converted during the Tribulation (Revelation 20:4). The current hatred of and attacks against the Jews are well documented, but it serves us well to look at some headlines and remember that people are harmed and even killed for the name of Christ every day.

At least there is one interesting pro-God story out there this week–DNA proves God made all creatures.

Christian persecution roundup

June 19th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

I do not talk about this topic too much because most of the “real” persecution of believers does not begin until after the start of the Tribulation, when saints will be beheaded for converting to Christianity (Revelation 20:4). And while we have it easy in the United States, facing only the occasional discrimination, Christians in other parts of the world face death on a daily basis for their faith. Just so we don’t lose sight of what is starting to take place, here is a sampling of headlines from the past week. All except for the first one comes from the United States:

There will come a time when all the Christians and Jews from around the world will face death at the hands of the Antichrist (Daniel 7:21; Matthew 24:9; Revelation 13:7, 20:4; Mark 13:9, plus many others).  Stunningly, many will die after being reported to the authories by their own spouses, parents, children, and siblings (Mark 13:12-13; Luke 21:16). That notion becomes very believable when one reads the headlines and realizes that the natural love among families is eroding away. In the past few days we have seen a slew of horrific stories to this affect, such as the mother who broadcast the sexual assault of her 5-year old daughter live on the Internet, and the mom who set her daughter on fire in a voodoo ritual.

Specifically to the United States, America will continue to remove God from society (Isaiah 18:2, 7; Jeremiah 50:11, 24, 29, 31, 32). This will cause God to reign holy judgment upon the land (Jeremiah 50:14, 28, 29; 51:24).

Chinese man jailed for printing Bibles; Christianity attacked across USA

June 11th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

The reports of a Chinese bookstore owner being jailed for three years for printing Bibles to give to local Christians is a somber reminder of how blessed we Americans are to live in a nation founded on God and His principles. Sadly, the Almighty remains under assault in the United States, with fringe minority groups having full support of the government in attempts to eradicate the name of Jesus from public life.

Consider these headlines from the last two weeks:

Thankfully there is some good news from this week. Students at Florida’s Pace High School thumbed their noses at the ACLU by standing in unison and reciting the Lord’s Prayer at their graduation ceremony. Also, a House committee has approved a resolution that, if passed, will fix the egregious removal of references to God from the US Capitol Visitor Center. Some of these “omissions” include leaving the National Motto, In God We Trust, off the replica of the Speaker’s rostrum; the removal of the Pledge of Allegiance; and the striking of references to God from the Northwest Ordinance and the Constitution.

The United States appears to be depicted in Scripture in Isaiah 18, Jeremiah 50-51, and Revelation 18. Among the many descriptions given we find a nation who was founded on God, but has systematically removed Him from society, growing worse and worse as time goes on (Isaiah 18:2, 7). There is even rejoicing that the Godly heritage of the nation is covered up (Jeremiah 50:11).

Because of great sin (Jeremiah 50:14) and the turning away from God (Jeremiah 50:29), monumental judgment is coming (Jeremiah 50:28; 51:24). This will come in the form of missiles (Jeremiah 50:14, 29; 51:3, 11) launched by Russia (Jeremiah 50:9, 41; 51:48) and perhaps even Iran (Jeremiah 51:11, 28). The United States will be completely destroyed (Jeremiah 50:13, 26).

San Diego trying to stop home Bible study

May 22nd, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

While California attempts to push the gay lifestyle onto children as young as five, Christians are being harassed for holding Bible studies in the homes of believers.

A local pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a San Diego County official, who then threatened them with escalating fines if they continued to hold Bible studies in their home, 10News reported.

Attorney Dean Broyles of The Western Center For Law & Policy was shocked with what happened to the pastor and his wife.

Broyles said, “The county asked, ‘Do you have a regular meeting in your home?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you say amen?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you pray?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you say praise the Lord?’ ‘Yes.’”

The county employee notified the couple that the small Bible study, with an average of 15 people attending, was in violation of County regulations, according to Broyles.

Broyles said a few days later the couple received a written warning that listed “unlawful use of land” and told them to “stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit” — a process that could cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Also in California, a 75 year-old cross memorializing soldiers killed defending this country during World War I has been declared unconstitutional because an atheist “may drive by, see it, and be offended.” I kid you not, that is what the court said. Who knew atheists were such pansies? The case is likely headed to the Supreme Court.

The systematic, government sanctioned removal of God from society is one of the reasons God sends His holy judgment upon the United States (Isaiah 18:2, 7; Jeremiah 50:11, 24, 29, 31, 32).

Update (June 4): San Diego has reversed course on the Bible study and has issued an apology to the group.

Keep an eye on New Hampshire

May 20th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

A battle is brewing in New Hampshire over the ability of churches to opt-out of participation in gay marriage. The governor wants to protect churches against lawsuits if they refuse to perform same-sex marriage on religious grounds, but he is facing opposition in the House.

News digest for April 27, 2009

April 27th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

Condensing the days news into one post worked well yesterday, so we are going to do it again. There is a lot of stuff going on.

***The Egyptian news weekly Al-Usbua reports (via the Jerusalem Post) that an Iranian vessel attempting to deliver weapons to Hamas was destroyed by either an Israeli or American vessel off the Sudanese coast. Along those lines, a report released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute today says that arms transfers to the Mideast are up 38 percent since 2004, with many of them going to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia from the United States. All this happens while Syria and Turkey stage joint military maneuvers, a “disturbing development” according to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

It is appropriate that so many arms and military exercises are happening in the region, and all of the above nations have a part in the Russian led march on Israel (Ezekiel 38:15), but not on the same side. While Iran (Ezekiel 38:5), Syria (Isaiah 17:1, Psalm 83:8) and Turkey (Ezekiel 38:6) will join with Russia and many other Arab nations (Psalm 83:4-5), Saudi Arabia and the UAE (Ezekiel 38:13) will team with the United States to defend Israel (Isaiah 18:7).

***Israel’s population is nearing 7.5 million, with over 5.5 million of those being Jews. Yet Palestinians continue to refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will not accept eastern Jerusalem as being part of Israel, and that is critical to future events. Very soon Israel will sign a peace contract that creates a Palestinian state and divides up Jerusalem (Joel 3:2; Zechariah 14:2), but this is a contract Israel signs with “death and hell” (Isaiah 28:15) and will only last 42 months before the Russian & Arab march on Israel (Ezekiel 38:11; Daniel 9:27).

April 26 news digest

April 26th, 2009 Kevin McDaniel Comments off

There are a lot of smaller stories in the news today, so instead of making several shorter postings, let’s combine some of the more appropriate stories into one post.

Lebanon wants to keep strong ties with Egypt while Jordan continues to push for Palestinian statehood.  Lebanon (Psalm 83:7), Egypt (Daniel 11:40), Jordan (Psalm 83:7), and a Palestinian state (Psalm 83:7) are all part of the Russian confederation that tries to eliminate Israel (Psalm 83:4-5) halfway through the Tribulation (Daniel 9:26-27; Ezekiel 38:11).

North Korea proclaims it has restarted its nuclear facilities and is said to be harvesting plutonium. North Korea is also reprocessing fuel rods at a time when three of its national companies have been blacklisted by the UN for their role in developing ballistic missile technology. North Korea will be one of the Oriental nations to join with China in a march to the Middle East (Revelation 16:12). This follows the Russian led march against Israel mentioned above. In both instances nuclear weapons will be used (Revelation 8:7, 9:18; Isaiah 13:10-13; Joel 2:3, 30; 2 Peter 3:10-12).

Great Britain has announced a plan to monitor every email and listen to every internet phone call that comes through its borders. The Antichrist, who like Great Britain will be part of the EU (Daniel 7:20, 24; 9:26), will use similar technology to monitor and track every human on earth, but at an even deeper level (Revelation 13:16-18), enabling him to gain control over the whole earth (Daniel 7:23; Revelation 13:7). The technology exists for this now, and it is already in use in some instances.
