A little blog housekeeping
As you probably noticed, we have had some issues with the blog for the last two weeks, mainly due to my ignorance as a webmaster. I want to specifically apologize to those who are subscribed using RSS, because I know there have been some issues with repeat feeds being sent.
First there was a database error that forced a slow and methodical re-import of about 30 posts. Even though they were time stamped and put back in the exact same spot they were lost from, WordPress took them as new and sent the postings out via RSS for a second (and in a few instances, even a third) time.
We finally had everything back to normal Friday night, then early Saturday morning I was notified that our database server died and had to be replaced. The blog portion of ProphecyProject.org was down for a few hours while we switched to a new server and handled some configuration problems. And of course, this caused several several articles to be sent out yet again! I am not technically proficient with this stuff, as you can no doubt tell. I just know that the Man has second baby post has showed up in my RSS reader about 7 times in the last week. It is irritating to me, and I am sure it is to you, as well.
We also had some conflicting plugins that caused some formating problems in a few of the posts that went up this weekend, especially the RSS versions of the blog entries. Ugh. Overall it was not a pleasant experience.
Now, for a general update
I have had several people ask if they could be notified of new entries by email instead of using a standard RSS reader or feed aggregator. The simplest way to do this seems to be by using Feedburner, a syndication tool offered by Google. So we are now routing the main feed thru Feedburner and we have added the ability to subscribe to email updates, which will supposedly go out between 9 and 11 each night, your time (whatever time zone you are in). Feel free to sign up by using the link in the top right corner of this page (just below the search box), and if you do not seem to be getting the updates please let me know.
This also means that you may need to re-subscribe to the RSS feed. If you are here and have not been notified of new postings, please subscribe to the new feed using the link below the search box, or by using the auto-discover feature in your web browser.
I have also opened comments on all postings. For now, all comments will be moderated, and given the schedule around here that may be a slow process, depending on the time of day you make them. Please feel free to chime if you have anything you’d like to add or challenge me on.
Also, in the coming weeks I will be starting a new set of series on prophecy related topics. These will include the United States in prophecy, the Antichrist, prophetic history of the Middle East, the apostate church, and an overview of both the book of Daniel and of Revelation. Many more series will come, as well. Hopefully during this time the full website (prophecyproject.org) will start to develop. I will post updates here as they become available.
Finally, we will be beginning a podcast soon. You will should be able to listen to them right here on the blog, via iTunes, or in a media player of your choice upon downloading them to your computer. I will let you know more about that when the first episode is posted.
