California seeking a “Gay Day” holiday
Yesterday, the California State Senate Education Committee forwarded on a bill that would designate May 22 as “Harvey Milk Day,” and require public schools to teach about the life of Milk on a yearly basis.
Milk, who is famous for being the so-called “first gay martyr” after being killed in 1978, had “no contributions of statewide significance,” according to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who vetoed a similar bill last year. So why set aside a day to “celebrate” his legacy? The text of the Senate Bill, SB 572, gives us the answer:
Perhaps more than any other modern figure, Harvey Milk’s life and political career embody the rise of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights movement in California, across the nation, and throughout the world.
It is all about teaching alternative lifestyles to children as young as five, against the wishes of parents, of whom only 19% support this prospective holiday.
Also, New Hampshire has joined Maine and is now poised to become the sixth state to sanction gay marriage.
Is the United States in the Bible? I think so. Because of sin (Jeremiah 50:14) and the turning away from God (Jeremiah 50:29), judgment is coming to the United States (Jeremiah 50:28; 51:24). God will use missiles (Jeremiah 50:14, 29; 51:3, 11) launched by Russia (Jeremiah 50:9, 41; 51:48) and (possibly) Iran (Jeremiah 51:11, 28) to exact His righteous judgment, leaving the United States utterly destroyed (Jeremiah 50:13, 26).
