IISS: Iran capable of nuke in 2009
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent proclamation that Iran is now a “space and nuclear power,” comes fresh on the heels of Israeli Major General Amos Yadlin’s cabinet announcement that Iran had “crossed the technological threshold,” and have now hasĀ the ability to build nuclear weapons.
This reminds us of a report by the International Institute for Strategic Studies that predicts the nation will have the capacity to make nuclear warheads before the end of the year.
Iran will have enough enriched uranium to make a single nuclear weapon later this year, the prestigious International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) predicts.
However, the survey reports doubts over US Intelligence estimates that Iran halted its work on nuclear weapons six years ago.
This points to Tehran’s continued development of long-range ballistic missiles able to reach targets in Israel and beyond.
Why is this important? Because Iran has promised to use the nuclear weapons when they are able–and God’s word tells us they will attempt to fulfill this promise.
I think the most excited I have been in all my years of studying Bible prophecy came when I was watching cable news late one evening, barely able to keep my eyes open. A short blurb scrolled across the bottom of the screen, mixed in with all the other news of the day. It said, “Ahmadinejad: Wipe Israel from remembrance.”
This was such an incredible rush because Ahmadinejad’s statement was almost verbatim of a prophecy found in Psalm 83:4, which says, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” Since then, the Iranian leader has reiterated this point several dozen times, saying Israel will be “wiped off the map,” the “countdown button (to Israel’s end) had been pushed,” Israel soon will disappear, there is a “great war” coming to destroy Israel. . . You get the idea.
We are truly racing toward the finish line.
